Senator Mark Kirk of Illinois
First elected to Congress in 2000, Mark Steven Kirk represents the State of Illinois in the United States Senate. Elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010, he is a member of four committees. In particular, he sits on the Senate Committee on Appropriations, where he sits on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on State-Foreign Operations and oversees U.S. foreign assistance to all countries, including Israel; and on the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs, where he serves as Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on National Security and International Trade and Finance and oversees the imposition of economic sanctions on Iran and other state sponsors of terrorism.
